What if my Primary Designee opts out after accepting the invite?

If your Primary Designee decides to Opt Out and no longer desires to be your Primary Designee, here is what happens and what to do next:

  1. You will receive an email informing you that your current Primary Designee has opted out from the Primary Designee role.

  1. When you log into your account, you will no longer see a Primary Designee associated with your account.

What you should do

  1. At this time, you can select another Primary Designee.

  1. On the left panel of your dashboard, click on your My Contacts page and click the +Add Primary Designee button:

You can also click the Add Primary Designee button underneath the My Contacts button on the left side panel:

  1. In the new screen, enter the information into the fields on the form.  Fields with an asterisk (*) are required and shown in the image below:

  1. Then, click the Next button to advance to the next screen where you will input your 4 Digit Designee Invite Code and click Send Invite:

NoteDO NOT SHARE THIS CODE WITH ANYONE EXCEPT YOUR

      PROPOSED DESIGNEE!

  1. You will then receive a confirmation screen informing you that the invite has been sent successfully:

  1. After returning to the main page, clicking My Contacts on the left side panel will display your choice of Designee and the status of your invitation.  The image below shows the status of a Designee invite that has been accepted:

Additional Tips:

  • Choose Wisely: Select someone who is responsible, reliable, and understands your wishes.

  • Have a Conversation: Inform your Primary Designee about their role, why you trust them, and what you expect them to do.

  • Provide Context: Ensure they understand the importance of secure access to your documents and how it aligns with your end-of-life planning.

Assigning a Primary Designee is a proactive step to safeguard your plans, protect your legacy, and provide peace of mind for both you and your loved ones.
